What happens when getting a new Smartphone after the old one stopped working>?

I have a Nokia Smartphone which fell into a puddle (while I was running for the bus.) It no longer works (doesn't come on when pushing the on button, doesn't charge, etc). I am going to buy an LG Leon in a few days. My carrier is Metro PCs.

When I go to the local Metro PC store…
1. Will I have to buy a new SIM card?
2. Will I be able to transfer telephone numbers and pictures from the old to the new Smartphone?
