My Nokia Lumia 635 has a faulty power button?

My Nokia's power button seems to be faulty. Normally I could tap and the phone would "wake up", but now it wont do anything. The only way I can get my phone to turn on is by holding it down long enough so the option to turn it off comes up and then when I try to turn it off it comes back on immediately without me doing anything.
