How to get the photos off my broken phone?

So I dropped my windows phone (nokia lumia 520) and i've cracked the screen now the screen doesn't work.

My phone has all my pictures from the holiday and the pictures of my nan who sadly passed away a few weeks ago, so these pictures are important.

I've tried plugging it into my computer but nothing is happening, I found the folder in my documents which is "Windows phone" but it says "folder empty" does anyone know how I can get the pictures onto my computer?
