Can I sync my iTunes to my windows phone?

so I was told I could move some music I have from my ipod (4th gen) to my windows phone (nokia Lumia 635) using the windows phone for desktop app. My laptop doesn't have iTunes on it, but I was wondering, how would I go about moving my iTunes music to my phone?
note: my laptop runs on windows 8
