Should I buy a wireless phone charger?

I own a nokia lumia 635. The usb port used to charge the phone is broken, the phone has lost all battery and will not switch on. Would it be OK to use a wireless phone charger to charge my phone?
Or would I have to switch it on to pair the phone with the charger?
