Full Question:
If I buy a SIM card for a one time price of about $30 for my Windows Phone, will I be able to make calls, as long as I have wifi, WITHOUT paying a service provider (i.e. Verizon, At&t, Sprint, T-Mobile, etc.).
----
Details:
I purchased a very cheap Windows Phone (Nokia Lumia 521) about 10 months ago, and it works fine. Unfortunately, at this time, it is more like an iPod than it is like an actual smartphone. This is due to the fact that I do not want to pay a provider $40 a month just so I can make a few dozen phone calls every month. I canât make phone calls, but itâs simply impossible to function without the ability to call. I have an app called âWi-Fi Callingâ that came preinstalled on my Windows Phone, but it doesnât work, because I have an âinvalid SIM cardâ. I donât even have a SIM card, and thatâs what Iâm wondering. If I buy a SIM card for a one time price of $30 or so, will I be able to make calls, as long as I have wifi, WITHOUT the use of a 2 year contract, or any provider at all. If I can by a SIM card, without having to also buy a service plan, then I definitely will pursue this option.
